Ingredients

  • Chickpea flour - 100 grams
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Nori seaweed - 1 sheet, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Nutritional yeast - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Bread (white or whole grain) - 4 slices
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2 tablespoons, chopped for garnish

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour and water, whisk until smooth.
  2. Add chopped nori, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, lemon juice, nutritional yeast, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix well until a thick paste forms.
  3. Heat sesame oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  4. Spread a generous amount of the chickpea mixture on one side of each slice of bread.
  5. Place the bread slices, chickpea side down, in the hot skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Flip the slices carefully and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the other side is crispy.
  7. Remove from the skillet and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
