Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • Sugar - 20 grams
  • Warm water - 100 ml
  • Salt - 3 grams
  • Vegetable oil - 10 ml
  • Red bean paste - 100 grams

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil.
  3. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  5. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 4 equal portions.
  6. Flatten each portion into a disc, place about 25 grams of red bean paste in the center, and pinch the edges to seal it into a bun shape.
  7. Place the buns seam side down on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, cover, and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
  9. Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
