Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 inch, minced
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Broccoli - 100 grams, cut into florets
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Lemon juice - 3 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat. Add the tofu cubes and fry until golden brown on all sides, approximately 8-10 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and sauté the minced garlic and ginger for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the bell pepper, broccoli, and carrot to the pan, and stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender yet crisp.
  6. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, lemon juice, maple syrup, and sesame oil. Pour this sauce over the vegetables and stir well.
  7. Add the fried tofu back into the pan, and toss everything together to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
