Ingredients

  • Wonton wrappers - 16 pieces
  • Firm tofu - 150 grams, crumbled
  • Carrot - 1 medium, finely chopped
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine crumbled tofu, chopped carrot, green onion, minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  2. Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges with a little water, then fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle. Press the edges firmly to seal.
  3. To create a more decorative shape, take the two outer corners of the triangle and fold them toward the center, pinching to seal. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  4. In a deep skillet or wok, heat about 2-3 centimeters of vegetable oil over medium heat until hot.
  5. Carefully add the wontons to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried wontons and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
