Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Water - 100 ml
- Chives - 50 grams, finely chopped
- Mushrooms (shiitake or button) - 100 grams, finely chopped
- Tofu (firm) - 100 grams, crumbled
- Carrot - 50 grams, grated
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and water, knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add a splash of water or a teaspoon of oil and sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the finely chopped mushrooms, crumbled tofu, grated carrot, and chopped chives to the skillet. Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
- After the dough has rested, divide it into small balls (about 20 grams each). Roll each ball into a thin circle on a floured surface.
- Place a small spoonful of the filling in the center of each dumpling wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half and pinch the edges to seal, creating a half-moon shape. Use pleats for a decorative touch if desired.
- Prepare a steamer and steam the dumplings over boiling water for about 10-12 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve hot with a dipping sauce made from soy sauce and a dash of sesame oil.
