Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Cornstarch - 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - for frying
  • Chopped green onions - for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic powder, and black pepper. Add the tofu cubes and gently toss to coat. Let marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. In a shallow dish, spread the cornstarch. Take each marinated tofu cube and coat it evenly with cornstarch.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the tofu cubes in batches, frying until they are golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the tofu puffs from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
