Ingredients
- Gluten-free all-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 120 ml
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Sugar - 5 grams
- Salt - 1 gram
- Ground pork - 100 grams
- Chopped napa cabbage - 50 grams
- Green onions, finely chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- White pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- In a small bowl, dissolve the active dry yeast and sugar in warm water, and let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the gluten-free flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and knead until a soft dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
- Meanwhile, prepare the filling by mixing the ground pork, chopped napa cabbage, green onions, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper in a bowl. Stir until well combined.
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a disc.
- Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each disc. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal the bun.
- Place the buns on a piece of parchment paper in a steamer basket, ensuring they have space to expand.
- Steam the buns over boiling water for 15-20 minutes until they are fluffy and cooked through.
- Serve the Tianjin Goubuli Buns hot with a side of soy sauce for dipping.
