  • Thai basil leaves - 1 cup (packed)
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Oyster sauce (vegetarian) - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Cooked jasmine rice - 2 cups (for serving)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add minced garlic and sliced red bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the pepper is slightly softened.
  5. Return the tofu to the pan and add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and chili flakes. Stir well to combine and heat through for another 2 minutes.
  6. Add the Thai basil leaves and chopped green onion, stirring until the basil wilts, about 1 minute.
  7. Serve the Thai basil tofu over cooked jasmine rice.
