Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Thai basil leaves - 1 cup (packed)
- Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Oyster sauce (vegetarian) - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
- Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
- Cooked jasmine rice - 2 cups (for serving)
Steps
- Press the tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add minced garlic and sliced red bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the pepper is slightly softened.
- Return the tofu to the pan and add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and chili flakes. Stir well to combine and heat through for another 2 minutes.
- Add the Thai basil leaves and chopped green onion, stirring until the basil wilts, about 1 minute.
- Serve the Thai basil tofu over cooked jasmine rice.
