- tempeh - 200 grams
- soy sauce - 60 ml
- maple syrup - 30 ml
- rice vinegar - 15 ml
- fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- garlic - 1 clove, minced
- sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- black sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- green onions - 2, chopped
- cooking oil - 1 tablespoon (for grilling)
Steps
- Slice the tempeh into 1 cm thick slices.
- In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
- Add the sliced tempeh to the marinade, making sure each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat and lightly grease with cooking oil.
- Remove tempeh from the marinade and grill for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and slightly charred.
- While grilling, brush with remaining marinade for extra flavor.
- Once cooked, remove from the grill and sprinkle with black sesame seeds and chopped green onions.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables.
