Ingredients
- Eggs - 4 large
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Black tea leaves - 2 tablespoons
- Star anise - 1 whole
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Ground pork - 250 grams
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Burger buns - 2
- Lettuce leaves - 2
Steps
- Begin by hard boiling the eggs. Place them in a pot, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil. Once boiling, cover and let sit for 10 minutes. Then, transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool.
- In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, black tea leaves, star anise, and five-spice powder. Bring to a simmer over low heat and then remove from heat. Once the eggs are cool, gently crack their shells with the back of a spoon and place them in the tea mixture. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- While the eggs are marinating, prepare the pork patties. In a bowl, combine ground pork, green onions, ginger, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well and form into 2 equal-sized patties.
- Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through.
- Slice the marinated eggs in half and set aside. Toast the burger buns lightly in the same pan used for the patties.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by a pork patty, and topping it with the halved tea eggs. Place the top bun on and serve immediately.
