Ingredients

  • Taro - 200 grams
  • Rice flour - 100 grams
  • Tapioca starch - 50 grams
  • Coconut milk - 150 ml
  • Granulated sugar - 50 grams
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Water - 100 ml

Steps

  1. Peel and cube the taro, then steam it for about 20 minutes until tender.
  2. Mash the steamed taro in a bowl until smooth and set aside to cool.
  3. In another bowl, combine the rice flour, tapioca starch, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  4. Add the coconut milk and water to the dry ingredients, mixing well until a smooth batter forms.
  5. Fold in the mashed taro until evenly incorporated.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased 8-inch round cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  7. Steam the cake over medium heat for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Once cooked, remove from the steamer and let it cool before slicing into wedges.
