  • Water - 100 milliliters
  • Black sesame seeds - 50 grams
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Peanut oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger - 1 small piece, grated
  • Brown sugar - 50 grams
  • Coconut milk - 200 milliliters

Steps

  1. In a dry skillet, toast the black sesame seeds over medium heat until fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. Allow to cool.
  2. In a food processor, blend the toasted black sesame seeds with sugar and peanut oil until a smooth paste forms. Set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour with water gradually, mixing until a smooth dough forms. Adjust water as necessary.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece into a disc, place about a teaspoon of the black sesame filling in the center, and carefully seal the dough around the filling, rolling it into a ball.
  5. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Gently drop the tangyuan into the boiling water and cook for about 10 minutes or until they float to the surface.
  6. In a separate saucepan, combine coconut milk, grated ginger, and brown sugar. Heat over low until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.
  7. Once the tangyuan are cooked, remove them from the pot and transfer to serving bowls. Pour the warm coconut ginger syrup over the tangyuan and serve immediately.
