Ingredients

  • Ground chicken - 400 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
  • Szechuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon, crushed
  • Chili paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2, finely chopped
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Romaine lettuce leaves - 4 large
  • Cucumber - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Carrot - 1 small, julienned
  • Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, minced garlic, minced ginger, crushed Szechuan peppercorns, chili paste, soy sauce, chopped green onions, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into 2 patties, pressing them firmly to hold their shape.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Once hot, add the patties and cook for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and golden brown.
  4. While the patties are cooking, prepare the lettuce wraps by washing and patting dry the romaine leaves.
  5. Once the patties are done, assemble the burgers by placing each patty inside a lettuce leaf. Top with cucumber slices, julienned carrot, and chopped cilantro.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy your low-carb Szechuan Chicken Burger!
