Ingredients
- Pork shoulder - 300 grams
- Szechuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Dark soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Five-spice powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Scallions - 2, chopped (for garnish)
Steps
- Cut the pork shoulder into thin strips, about 1 inch wide.
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, dark soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, chili flakes, five-spice powder, and sesame oil. Mix well to create the marinade.
- Add the pork strips to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
- Preheat your grill or barbecue to medium-high heat.
- Remove the pork from the marinade and thread the strips onto skewers (if using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes prior to prevent burning).
- Grill the pork skewers for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Remove the skewers from the grill, let them rest for a couple of minutes, then garnish with chopped scallions before serving.
