Ingredients
- Chicken ribs - 500 grams
- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Brown sugar - 30 grams
- Honey - 30 grams
- Rice vinegar - 15 ml
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped for garnish
- Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon, for garnish
Steps
- In a medium bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, five-spice powder, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
- Place the chicken ribs in a large resealable bag or dish and pour the marinade over them. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
- Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F). Line a baking tray with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top.
- Remove the ribs from the marinade, reserving the marinade for later. Place the ribs on the wire rack.
- Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 1 hour to tenderize them.
- After 1 hour, increase the oven temperature to 200°C (400°F) and brush the reserved marinade over the ribs. Bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, basting with marinade every 10 minutes until the ribs are caramelized and sticky.
- Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
