Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour - 100 grams
  • Water - 60 ml
  • Red bean paste - 50 grams
  • White sesame seeds - 30 grams
  • Cooking oil - for deep frying
  • Powdered sugar - 10 grams (optional for dusting)

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour with water and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  2. Divide the dough into 6 equal pieces, then flatten each piece into a small disc.
  3. Place a small amount of red bean paste (about 8 grams) in the center of each disc and carefully fold the edges over to seal, rolling them into balls.
  4. Roll each ball in sesame seeds until fully coated.
  5. Heat the cooking oil in a deep pan over medium heat until it reaches 170°C (340°F).
  6. Carefully add the sesame balls to the hot oil in batches, frying until they are golden brown and float to the surface, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove the balls from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
