- all-purpose flour - 250 grams
- active dry yeast - 5 grams
- sugar - 30 grams
- water - 150 ml (warm)
- vegetable oil - 15 grams
- red bean paste - 100 grams
- salt - 1 gram
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, active dry yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Add all-purpose flour, salt, and vegetable oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and knead for a minute. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces.
- Flatten each piece of dough into a circle, about 10 cm in diameter. Place a tablespoon of red bean paste in the center of each circle.
- Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and pinch to seal, forming a bun.
- Place the buns on parchment paper squares in a steamer. Cover and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
- Steam the buns over boiling water for 15 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.
- Remove the buns from the steamer and let them cool slightly before serving.
