Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice - 100 grams
  • Water - 250 ml
  • Dried osmanthus flowers - 2 teaspoons
  • Coconut sugar - 30 grams
  • Coconut milk - 100 ml
  • Salt - a pinch

Steps

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 30 minutes.
  2. After soaking, drain the rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or parchment paper.
  3. In a small saucepan, bring 250 ml of water to a boil. Add the dried osmanthus flowers and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the flavor.
  4. Pour the infused osmanthus water over the rice in the steamer and sprinkle the coconut sugar and a pinch of salt on top.
  5. Cover the steamer and steam the rice for about 25-30 minutes, or until the rice is translucent and fully cooked.
  6. Once cooked, transfer the rice to a mixing bowl and let it cool slightly. Stir in the coconut milk until well combined.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature, garnished with a few extra osmanthus flowers if desired.
