Ingredients
- Carrots - 300 grams, peeled and sliced into thin rounds
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, for garnish
- Green onions - 1 stalk, chopped, for garnish
Steps
- In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil and add the sliced carrots. Blanch for 3-5 minutes until slightly tender, then drain and set aside.
- In the same saucepan, heat sesame oil over medium heat, then add minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the blanched carrots to the pan and stir well to combine with the garlic and ginger.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, maple syrup, rice vinegar, and chili flakes. Pour this sauce over the carrots in the pan.
- Stir to coat the carrots evenly with the sauce and cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and the carrots to absorb the flavors.
- Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
