Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Bell pepper (red) - 1 medium, diced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, sliced
  • Broccoli florets - 100 grams
  • Green onion - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Soy sauce (low sodium) - 2 tablespoons
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon (for garnish)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1.5 cm cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water to create the sweet and sour sauce.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes and cook until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove the tofu and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Sauté the garlic, ginger, bell pepper, carrot, and broccoli for about 5 minutes or until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  5. Return the tofu to the skillet, pour the sweet and sour sauce over the mixture, and stir well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
