Ingredients

  • Pork ribs - 500 grams
  • Soy sauce - 60 ml
  • Rice vinegar - 30 ml
  • Honey - 30 grams
  • Ketchup - 60 grams
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Red bell pepper - 1, diced
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Oil - for frying

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, ketchup, minced garlic, grated ginger, and a pinch of salt and black pepper to create the marinade.
  3. Place the pork ribs in a large dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.
  4. Heat a tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated ribs and sear them on both sides until browned, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Transfer the seared ribs to a baking dish and pour the remaining marinade over them. Cover with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  6. While the ribs are baking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the water and cornstarch, stirring until dissolved. Add the remaining marinade from the baking dish and bring to a simmer, stirring until thickened, about 5 minutes.
  7. Remove the ribs from the oven and uncover them. Brush the thickened sauce over the ribs and return to the oven, uncovered, for an additional 10 minutes.
  8. Once cooked, remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with diced red bell pepper and chopped green onions before serving.
