- Red bell pepper - 1/2, diced
- Pineapple chunks - 100 grams (canned or fresh)
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Ketchup - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Water - 1/4 cup
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large bowl, toss the chicken wings with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken wings and fry for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown.
- Transfer the fried wings to a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in the oven for 20 minutes, until crispy and cooked through.
- While the wings are baking, prepare the sweet and sour sauce. In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Add the diced red bell pepper and pineapple chunks to the sauce, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Once the chicken wings are done baking, toss them in the sweet and sour sauce until fully coated.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately.
