Ingredients
- White fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia) - 300 grams
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Spring onions - 2, chopped
- Cilantro - a handful, chopped
- Chili oil - 1 teaspoon (optional)
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Prepare the fish fillets by rinsing them under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. Season with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- In a small bowl, mix together the minced garlic, minced ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil to create a marinade.
- Place the fish fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- While the fish is marinating, set up a steamer or a pot with a steaming rack and bring water to a boil.
- Once the fish has marinated, place the fillets on the steaming rack. Optionally, sprinkle the chopped spring onions on top of the fish.
- Cover the pot and steam the fish for about 10-12 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
- Once cooked, carefully remove the fish from the steamer and transfer it to serving plates. Drizzle with chili oil if desired and garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Serve immediately with steamed rice or on its own as a light midnight snack.
