Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Yellow bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Green bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon, for garnish
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1.5 cm cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Add the cubed tofu to the marinade, toss gently, and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  5. Add the marinated tofu to the skillet and stir-fry until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
  6. In the same skillet, add a little more oil if needed, then add minced garlic and ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  7. Add the sliced bell peppers to the skillet and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender yet crisp.
  8. Return the tofu to the skillet, adding any remaining marinade, and stir everything together for another 2-3 minutes.
  9. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
  10. Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
