Ingredients
- glutinous rice - 150 grams
- coconut milk - 200 ml
- sugar - 40 grams
- salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- ripe mango - 1 medium
- sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon (optional)
- water - 300 ml
Steps
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 30 minutes.
- Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel.
- Steam the rice over boiling water for about 25-30 minutes, or until the grains are translucent and tender.
- While the rice is steaming, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then remove from heat.
- Once the rice is done steaming, transfer it to a large bowl and pour about 150 ml of the coconut milk mixture over it. Mix well and let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- Peel and slice the ripe mango into thin strips.
- To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, drizzle with the remaining coconut milk mixture, and arrange the mango slices on the side. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
