Ingredients
- Sticky rice - 200 grams
- Ground chicken - 100 grams
- Dried shiitake mushrooms - 30 grams
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Water - 400 ml
- Banana leaves or parchment paper - for wrapping
Steps
- Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Rehydrate the dried shiitake mushrooms in warm water for about 30 minutes, then chop them finely.
- In a skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat and add ground chicken, cooking until browned.
- Add the chopped shiitake mushrooms, green onions, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Cook for another 5 minutes until everything is well combined and cooked through.
- Drain the soaked sticky rice and mix it with the cooked chicken filling in a bowl.
- Prepare the banana leaves or parchment paper by cutting them into squares, approximately 20x20 cm each.
- Place a portion of the sticky rice mixture in the center of each leaf/paper square, then fold and wrap securely to create a dumpling.
- Steam the dumplings in a steamer over boiling water for about 45 minutes.
- Once cooked, unwrap the dumplings and serve warm with soy sauce or chili sauce for dipping.
