Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Granulated sugar - 10 grams
- Warm water (about 40°C) - 150 ml
- Pork shoulder, ground - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 15 ml
- Sesame oil - 10 ml
- Ginger, minced - 5 grams
- Garlic, minced - 5 grams
- Green onion, finely chopped - 10 grams
- Salt - 3 grams
- Pepper - 1 gram
Steps
- In a small bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and a pinch of salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture, stirring until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, green onion, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
- Place a tablespoon of the pork filling in the center of each dough circle. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal the bun.
- Place the buns on parchment paper squares and let them rest for another 10 minutes.
- While the buns are resting, prepare a steamer. Bring water to a boil in the steamer pot.
- Carefully place the buns in the steamer, ensuring they are not touching. Cover and steam for 15-20 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.
- Serve warm, and enjoy your Steamed Pork Buns!
