- Water - 500 milliliters
Steps
- Peel the lotus root and slice it into thin rounds (about 0.5 cm thick).
- Rinse the sliced lotus root under cold water to remove excess starch.
- Prepare a steamer or a pot with a steaming basket and fill it with 500 milliliters of water. Bring the water to a boil.
- While the water is heating, finely chop the ginger and garlic.
- Once the water is boiling, place the lotus root slices in the steaming basket and steam for about 15 minutes until tender.
- In a small bowl, mix the coconut aminos, sesame oil, chopped ginger, garlic, and chili flakes to create a sauce.
- After steaming, transfer the lotus root to a serving plate and drizzle the sauce over the top.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
