  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro - a handful, for garnish
  • Lemon or lime - 1, cut into wedges
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Water - 1 liter (for steaming)

Steps

  1. Prepare the steamer by filling it with 1 liter of water and bringing it to a boil.
  2. While the water is heating, place the fish fillet on a heatproof plate.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, minced garlic, and sliced ginger. Pour this mixture over the fish fillet.
  4. Sprinkle chopped spring onions over the fish and drizzle with sesame oil. Add black pepper to taste.
  5. Once the water is boiling, carefully place the plate with the fish into the steamer. Cover and steam for about 10-12 minutes or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. Once cooked, carefully remove the plate from the steamer. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lemon or lime wedges.
