Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (e.g., cod, tilapia) - 300 grams
  • Fresh ginger - 30 grams, thinly sliced
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Spring onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml
  • Sesame oil - 10 ml
  • Lemon juice - 15 ml
  • Salt - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves - for garnish

Steps

  1. Prepare the fish fillets by rinsing them under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Place the fish fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for 10 minutes.
  4. While the fish is marinating, prepare your steamer by bringing water to a boil.
  5. Layer the ginger slices and minced garlic on top of the marinated fish fillets.
  6. Once the water is boiling, place the fish dish into the steamer basket and cover it.
  7. Steam the fish for about 12-15 minutes, or until it is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  8. Remove the fish from the steamer and sprinkle with chopped spring onions and coriander leaves before serving.
