Ingredients
- White fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod) - 300 grams
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, julienned
- Spring onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Prepare the fish fillets by rinsing them under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
- Place the fish fillets on a heatproof plate that fits inside your steamer. Sprinkle the minced garlic, ginger, and half of the spring onions over the fish.
- Fill the steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, place the plate with the fish into the steamer and cover it with a lid.
- Steam the fish for about 10-12 minutes, or until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
- While the fish is steaming, prepare the sauce by mixing the soy sauce and sesame oil in a small bowl.
- Once the fish is done, carefully remove it from the steamer. Drizzle the soy sauce mixture over the fish and garnish with the remaining spring onions and fresh cilantro.
- Serve immediately with steamed rice or vegetables.
