Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod) - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, julienned
  • Spring onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Prepare the fish fillets by rinsing them under cold water and patting them dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.
  2. Place the fish fillets on a heatproof plate that fits inside your steamer. Sprinkle the minced garlic, ginger, and half of the spring onions over the fish.
  3. Fill the steamer pot with water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, place the plate with the fish into the steamer and cover it with a lid.
  4. Steam the fish for about 10-12 minutes, or until it is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  5. While the fish is steaming, prepare the sauce by mixing the soy sauce and sesame oil in a small bowl.
  6. Once the fish is done, carefully remove it from the steamer. Drizzle the soy sauce mixture over the fish and garnish with the remaining spring onions and fresh cilantro.
  7. Serve immediately with steamed rice or vegetables.
