- White fish fillet (such as cod or tilapia) - 200 grams
- Shrimp (peeled and deveined) - 100 grams
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Egg white - 1 large
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic (minced) - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green onion (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- White pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- In a food processor, combine the white fish fillet and shrimp. Pulse until finely minced but not pureed.
- Add the cornstarch, egg white, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onion, salt, and white pepper to the minced fish and shrimp mixture.
- Blend the mixture until well combined and slightly sticky, scraping down the sides as needed.
- With wet hands, form the mixture into small balls, approximately the size of a golf ball.
- Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil in the bottom pot.
- Place the fish balls in a single layer on a heatproof plate or bamboo steamer lined with parchment paper.
- Steam the fish balls for 12-15 minutes, or until they are opaque and cooked through.
- Remove from the steamer and serve immediately with soy sauce or your choice of dipping sauce.
