Ingredients

  • White fish fillet (such as cod or tilapia) - 200 grams
  • Shrimp (peeled and deveined) - 100 grams
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Egg white - 1 large
  • Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic (minced) - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onion (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • White pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a food processor, combine the white fish fillet and shrimp. Pulse until finely minced but not pureed.
  2. Add the cornstarch, egg white, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, green onion, salt, and white pepper to the minced fish and shrimp mixture.
  3. Blend the mixture until well combined and slightly sticky, scraping down the sides as needed.
  4. With wet hands, form the mixture into small balls, approximately the size of a golf ball.
  5. Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil in the bottom pot.
  6. Place the fish balls in a single layer on a heatproof plate or bamboo steamer lined with parchment paper.
  7. Steam the fish balls for 12-15 minutes, or until they are opaque and cooked through.
  8. Remove from the steamer and serve immediately with soy sauce or your choice of dipping sauce.
