Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Sugar - 30 grams
- Instant yeast - 5 grams
- Baking powder - 5 grams
- Warm water - 100 ml
- Vegetable oil - 15 ml
- Salt - 1 gram
- Custard powder - 20 grams
- Milk - 150 ml
- Butter - 15 grams
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, instant yeast, baking powder, and salt.
- Add warm water and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise for 30 minutes.
- In a separate saucepan, mix custard powder and a small amount of milk to create a paste. Gradually add the remaining milk while stirring to avoid lumps.
- Heat the custard mixture over medium heat, stirring continuously until thickened. Remove from heat, add butter and vanilla extract, and let it cool.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of the cooled custard in the center of each circle, gather the edges, and pinch to seal into a bun shape.
- Prepare a steamer and line it with parchment paper. Place the buns in the steamer, ensuring they have space to rise and expand.
- Steam the buns over boiling water for 15-20 minutes until they are fluffy and cooked through. Serve warm.
