Ingredients
- Chinese broccoli (Gai Lan) - 200 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Water - 0.5 liters
Steps
- Rinse the Chinese broccoli under cold water and trim the tough ends of the stems.
- In a pot, bring 0.5 liters of water to a boil and place a steamer basket over it.
- Add the Chinese broccoli to the steamer basket, cover, and steam for 5-7 minutes until tender but still bright green.
- While the greens are steaming, heat sesame oil in a small pan over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger to the pan, sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
- Once the greens are done steaming, transfer them to a serving plate.
- Drizzle the sautéed garlic and ginger mixture over the steamed greens, and add soy sauce and salt to taste.
- Serve immediately as a side dish.
