Ingredients

  • Chinese chives - 200 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Water - 1 liter (for steaming)

Steps

  1. Wash the Chinese chives thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or grit, then trim the ends and cut them into 5 cm pieces.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, vegetable oil, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Place the chopped chives in a steamer basket and pour the marinade over them, tossing gently to coat.
  4. Bring 1 liter of water to a boil in a pot or wok, then place the steamer basket over the boiling water.
  5. Cover and steam the chives for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until they are tender but still vibrant green.
  6. Remove from the steamer and serve warm as a side dish.
