Ingredients
- Wonton wrappers - 20 pieces
- Firm tofu - 200 grams, crumbled
- Shiitake mushrooms - 100 grams, finely chopped
- Carrot - 1 medium, grated
- Green onion - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Sriracha - 1 tablespoon (adjust to taste)
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon (for sealing wontons)
- Water - as needed for sealing
- Oil - for frying (optional)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine crumbled tofu, chopped shiitake mushrooms, grated carrot, green onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, sriracha, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center. Moisten the edges with a little water, fold the wrapper over to create a triangle, and press to seal. Ensure there are no air bubbles. Optionally, fold the two corners of the triangle towards the center to create a traditional wonton shape.
- Repeat the process until all the filling is used up.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil. Carefully drop the wontons into the boiling water and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain.
- In a frying pan, heat oil over medium heat (if using) and fry the boiled wontons for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden and crispy.
- Serve hot with additional sriracha or soy sauce for dipping.
