Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Bell pepper - 1, sliced
  • Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, and add the tofu cubes, frying until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add minced garlic and red chili flakes, sautéing for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add sliced bell pepper and cook for another 3-4 minutes until slightly tender.
  6. Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, then pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil, stirring well to combine all ingredients.
  7. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through and allow flavors to meld.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
