- Firm tofu - 400 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Chili paste - 1 tablespoon
- Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
- Peanut butter - 3 tablespoons
- Coconut milk - 100 ml
- Salt - to taste
- Skewers - 4 (soaked in water for 30 minutes if wooden)
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 2.5 cm cubes.
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, chili paste, brown sugar, and lime juice to create the marinade.
- Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and let them soak for at least 15 minutes.
- While the tofu is marinating, prepare the peanut sauce by mixing peanut butter, coconut milk, and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
- Thread the marinated tofu onto skewers, leaving some space between each piece.
- Grill the tofu skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden and slightly charred.
- Serve the grilled tofu satay hot with the warm peanut sauce on the side for dipping.
