Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 400 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Chili paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Peanut butter - 3 tablespoons
  • Coconut milk - 100 ml
  • Salt - to taste
  • Skewers - 4 (soaked in water for 30 minutes if wooden)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 2.5 cm cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, chili paste, brown sugar, and lime juice to create the marinade.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and let them soak for at least 15 minutes.
  4. While the tofu is marinating, prepare the peanut sauce by mixing peanut butter, coconut milk, and a pinch of salt in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  5. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  6. Thread the marinated tofu onto skewers, leaving some space between each piece.
  7. Grill the tofu skewers for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden and slightly charred.
  8. Serve the grilled tofu satay hot with the warm peanut sauce on the side for dipping.
