- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Puff pastry - 250 grams (1 sheet)
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Carrot - 1 small, grated
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
- Sesame seeds - for garnish
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Drain the tofu and press it gently to remove excess moisture. Cut it into small cubes.
- In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the cubed tofu to the pan and fry until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle in the red chili flakes, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated carrot, chopped green onions, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 4 equal squares.
- Place a spoonful of the spicy tofu mixture in the center of each pastry square. Fold the corners over to create a pocket and seal the edges with a fork.
- Place the tofu puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with olive oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
