Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Cucumber - 1 medium (about 250 grams)
  • Red bell pepper - 1/2 (about 75 grams)
  • Green onion - 2 stalks
  • Garlic - 2 cloves
  • Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Chili oil - 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu for about 10 minutes to remove excess water, then cut it into 1 cm cubes.
  2. In a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat, add a splash of sesame oil and sauté the tofu cubes until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. While the tofu is cooking, slice the cucumber and red bell pepper into thin strips and chop the green onions.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chili oil to create the dressing.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the cooked tofu, cucumber, red bell pepper, and green onions.
  6. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to combine. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top before serving.
