Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Honey or maple syrup - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Cilantro, chopped - for garnish
Steps
- Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a non-stick skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the cubed tofu to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides.
- In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey (or maple syrup), and red chili flakes to create the spicy sauce.
- Pour the spicy sauce over the tofu in the skillet and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, allowing the tofu to absorb the flavors.
- Remove the tofu from heat and sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
