Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
  • Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey or maple syrup - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions, chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
  • Cilantro, chopped - for garnish

Steps

  1. Press the firm tofu to remove excess moisture for about 15 minutes, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
  2. In a non-stick skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the cubed tofu to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown on all sides.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey (or maple syrup), and red chili flakes to create the spicy sauce.
  5. Pour the spicy sauce over the tofu in the skillet and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, allowing the tofu to absorb the flavors.
  6. Remove the tofu from heat and sprinkle with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
  7. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
