  • Soy sauce (low sodium) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 2 tablespoons
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Spring onions, chopped - for garnish

Steps

  1. In a medium pot, heat the sesame oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Pour in the chicken broth and bring it to a boil. Add red chili flakes, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper to taste.
  3. Add the broccoli florets to the boiling broth and cook for 3-4 minutes until they are tender but still bright green.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water to create a slurry. Stir this into the soup to thicken the broth slightly.
