Ingredients

  • Ground lamb - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Szechuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon, crushed
  • Chili paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2, finely chopped
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Bao buns - 2 pieces
  • Cucumber - 1/2, sliced
  • Lettuce - 2 leaves
  • Spicy mayo - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground lamb, minced garlic, grated ginger, crushed Szechuan peppercorns, chili paste, soy sauce, chopped green onions, cilantro, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into two equal-sized patties, about 1.5 cm thick.
  3. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the lamb patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C.
  4. While the patties are cooking, steam the bao buns according to package instructions until soft and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
  5. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bao bun, followed by the cooked lamb patty, sliced cucumber, and a drizzle of spicy mayo.
  6. Top with the other half of the bao bun, serve immediately, and enjoy your spicy lamb burger!
