Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
  • Red chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut the tofu into 1-inch cubes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the skillet and sauté until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove the tofu from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and sesame oil. Sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Add the red chili flakes, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper to the skillet, stirring to combine.
  6. Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, tossing to coat in the spicy garlic sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
