Ingredients

  • White fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia) - 250 grams
  • Firm tofu - 200 grams
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic, minced - 3 cloves
  • Ginger, minced - 1 tablespoon
  • Red chili paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions, chopped - 2 stalks
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 100 milliliters
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. Cut the fish fillets into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and black pepper. Cut the tofu into cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, red chili paste, and water. Set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Add the fish pieces to the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil and the tofu cubes. Fry the tofu until golden brown on all sides, about 5-6 minutes. Remove and set aside with the fish.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Allow it to thicken slightly for about 2-3 minutes.
  7. Return the fish and tofu to the skillet, gently tossing to coat them in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
  8. Drizzle with sesame oil and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
