Ingredients
- White fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia) - 250 grams
- Firm tofu - 200 grams
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic, minced - 3 cloves
- Ginger, minced - 1 tablespoon
- Red chili paste - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions, chopped - 2 stalks
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 100 milliliters
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- Cut the fish fillets into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and black pepper. Cut the tofu into cubes.
- In a bowl, mix the soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, red chili paste, and water. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the fish pieces to the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through. Remove the fish from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil and the tofu cubes. Fry the tofu until golden brown on all sides, about 5-6 minutes. Remove and set aside with the fish.
- Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Allow it to thicken slightly for about 2-3 minutes.
- Return the fish and tofu to the skillet, gently tossing to coat them in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
- Drizzle with sesame oil and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
