Ingredients

  • Soybeans - 100 grams
  • Water - 1 liter (for soaking soybeans)
  • Water - 1 liter (for making soy milk)
  • Sugar - 2 tablespoons
  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Water - 100 ml (for dough)
  • Cooking oil - for deep frying

Steps

  1. Rinse the soybeans under cold water and soak them in 1 liter of water for at least 8 hours or overnight.
  2. After soaking, drain the soybeans and blend them with 1 liter of fresh water until smooth.
  3. Strain the blended mixture through a cheesecloth or fine mesh sieve into a pot to extract the soy milk. Discard the soybean pulp.
  4. In a saucepan, heat the soy milk over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of sugar. Stir until dissolved and then remove from heat.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine 200 grams of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
  6. Gradually add 100 ml of water to the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead lightly on a floured surface for about 5 minutes.
  7. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  8. After resting, divide the dough into two equal pieces and roll each piece into a long strip, about 1 cm thick.
  9. Heat cooking oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the rolled dough strips to the oil.
  10. Fry the dough until golden brown and puffed, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  11. Serve the hot fried dough sticks alongside the sweet soy milk for dipping.
