- Chicken breast - 200 grams, diced
- Firm tofu - 200 grams, cubed
- Sichuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Dried red chili peppers - 4-5, or to taste
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a bowl, toss the diced chicken with cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Set aside for 10 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the cubed tofu and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining vegetable oil. Add Sichuan peppercorns and dried red chili peppers, stirring for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, sautéing for an additional 1-2 minutes until aromatic.
- Add the marinated chicken to the skillet, cooking until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the cooked tofu, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Garnish with chopped green onions, and serve hot.
