Ingredients
- Beef sirloin - 200 grams, thinly sliced
- Firm tofu - 200 grams, cubed
- Sichuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Dried red chilies - 3-4, to taste
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Chili paste (like Doubanjiang) - 1 tablespoon
- Cooking oil (preferably sesame oil) - 2 tablespoons
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
Steps
- In a bowl, marinate the beef slices with soy sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch for 10 minutes.
- In a large skillet or wok, heat the cooking oil over medium heat and add Sichuan peppercorns and dried red chilies. Stir-fry for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add minced garlic and ginger to the skillet, sautéing for another minute until aromatic.
- Increase the heat to high and add the marinated beef to the skillet. Stir-fry until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes.
- Gently add the cubed tofu to the skillet, being careful not to break it. Add chili paste and mix gently to coat the tofu and beef evenly.
- Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. If necessary, season with salt to taste.
- Finally, sprinkle chopped green onions over the dish before serving.
