Ingredients

  • Ground chicken - 300 grams
  • Sichuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Panko breadcrumbs - 2 tablespoons
  • Burger buns - 2
  • Lettuce leaves - 2
  • Tomato - 1, sliced
  • Cucumber - 1, thinly sliced
  • Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
  • Chili oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a small pan, toast the Sichuan peppercorns over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Let them cool and then grind them into a coarse powder.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, ground Sichuan peppercorns, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, chopped green onions, panko breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties.
  4. Heat a pan over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are fully cooked and golden brown.
  5. While the chicken patties are cooking, mix the mayonnaise and chili oil in a small bowl to create the chili mayo.
  6. Toast the burger buns lightly on the same pan until golden.
  7. Assemble the burger by spreading chili mayo on the bottom bun, adding a lettuce leaf, the chicken patty, tomato slices, and cucumber slices. Top with the other half of the bun.
  8. Serve immediately with your choice of side.
