Ingredients

  • Pork ribs - 500 grams
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Hoisin sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Chili bean paste (Doubanjiang) - 1 tablespoon
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic, minced - 3 cloves
  • Ginger, grated - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Sichuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish) - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, chili bean paste, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and Sichuan peppercorns to create the marinade.
  2. Place the pork ribs in a large ziplock bag or dish, pour the marinade over them, and ensure they are well coated. Seal or cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight for maximum flavor.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Remove the ribs from the marinade and let any excess drip off.
  4. Grill the ribs for about 25-30 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are cooked through and caramelized. Use the leftover marinade to baste the ribs during the last 10 minutes of grilling.
  5. Once cooked, remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot.
